Lifes a Beach

Okay this was a fun cake! I made the cake for daughter #2's best friend. Her mom was having a surprise birthday party for her. She was having a Beach party and I was excited to try out a beach cake. This little girl is really as sweet as they come...I hope she loved the cake. The cake was "funfetti" with Raspberry and butter cream filling. All the accent pieces were made of fondant and the "sand " was brown sugar. I had so much fun sculpting little beach toys...(but do not ask Olivia how much fun she had watching me) My favorite part was the sand castle...it makes me want to take a trip, and play in real sand ( I hope the girls didn't eat all that sugar sand). I took the picture before I added palm trees to the top of the cake...they helped give the cake a little more depth. Now I am off to make cake truffles for daughter #1 to take to a pool party...sleep? It's over rated:)

Over the Hill

40 is the new 80 have you heard? This was a cake for a friend that wanted to give her co-worker a fun birthday cake. She had a sense of humor...I hope....The cake was a butter yellow cake with raspberry white chocolate. It also had Oreo "dirt". Olivia was not impressed...she thought that my time would have been much better spent holding her :)

Cupcake Mania!

Whats a girl to do with a few pounds of butter cream, whipped chocolate cream cheese frosting, and a bunch of thank you's to give? Why make 3,000 cupcakes of course!

I spent my Sunday afternoon in my favorite way...baking. The best part is that I was baking for someone other than myself...and with no pressure just for fun!

I made many varieties of cupcakes:

Coconut Supreme with butter cream icing and toasted coconut on top

Chocolate Devils food with Whipped chocolate cream cheese frosting

Chocolate devils with whipped chocolate cream cheese frosting and drizzled with milk chocolate

Vanilla butter cake with butter cream icing and sprinkles

Vanilla butter cake with whipped chocolate incing and sprinkles

We then happily drove around to give our thanks to a few people that have given our family joy...and in return we were hoping that these little cakes gave them a tiny bit in return.

Red, White and Blue

I really did not like the way this onsie turned out...so my friend never saw it, and my daughter's tummy did instead.
The big red thing...its actually an apple for the kids teacher..no..not a tomato, what can I say it was late and I was baby tired....it still tasted good.

Cookies...this is a picture of the rejects actually....I forgot to take a picture of the ones that I made for a 4th of July baby shower. What a fun idea....I did mostly stars (as requested) but threw in a few onsies because I love making them. I hope the mom to be enjoyed them. I really do love making cookies...far better than the cakes. My only dilemma with cookies is that I want to use my soft, yummy recipe...but I also always want to make the recipe that does not have leavening in it so that the cookie will hold its shape and look PERFECT...in the end the taste always wins out because what is a beautiful cookie if you ultimately do not love the taste?

Airplane cake

Just a quick, cute little cake for a friend. The cake was a Chocolate Fudge with Raspberry and White Chocolate filling. It was covered in butter cream with fondant accents. Olivia did not like me making this cake...she fused the entire time..hence why I have cut back on cake making. I had a ton of leftover butter cream (it seems I do best sticking with my full recipe no matter how much I need) so today I made cake truffle bites. I am thinking of making them into Volleyballs for the girls coaches...we will see what Olivia thinks about that :)

Its a mad, mad, world!

This is a "Mad Scientist" cake that I did for a little boy named Carter. He was having a Mad Scientist Birthday Party. I thought that was such a great theme for a 6 year old boy. The cake was layers of alliterating vanilla butter cake and chocolate fudge. I also did a chocolate cream cheese filling. I forgot to take a picture of the cake before they picked it up, so this is a picture that she sent me from the party...Thanks Lori!
